Semperity

SMS Program Description

Semperity is a youth sports team management platform. Coaches use it to keep families informed. This page describes our SMS (text message) program.

What messages we send

Urgent, time-sensitive team notifications only — for example practice or game cancellations, weather delays, and schedule or field changes. Messages come from the team and look like: "Semperity (Sparta U14G): Practice tonight is cancelled due to lightning. Reply STOP to opt out."

How consent works — first-party opt-in on the Family Home page

Consent is given directly by the parent or guardian themselves, on their own private Family Home page in Semperity. The "Urgent team texts" section presents a phone number field and a consent checkbox that is unchecked by default, next to this exact disclosure:

"Yes, send me urgent team text messages from Semperity for this team. Message frequency varies, typically 0–5 messages/month. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. Consent is optional and not required to use Semperity."

Links to our Terms and Privacy Policy appear directly beneath the checkbox. The "Save text preferences" button stays inactive until the family enters a number and affirmatively checks the box. Consent is recorded with the phone number, source, and timestamp. Families can turn text updates off on the same page at any time, or by replying STOP.

Consent is not a condition of any purchase or service, and joining a team does not itself opt a family in — consent to SMS is always a separate, explicit agreement. Messages are sent only to phone numbers with a recorded, unrevoked consent. Replying STOP immediately and permanently suppresses the number (until the user texts START to opt back in); replying HELP returns assistance information.

Secondary path — coach-recorded consent (offline fallback)

For families who agreed in person or in writing but haven't used their Family Home page, the coach can record that permission in the app. The button is inactive by default and consent still defaults to not granted for every number:

Frequency & rates

Message frequency is low — typically 0–5 messages per month, only when something urgent happens. Message and data rates may apply.

Opting out & help

Reply STOP at any time to stop receiving messages. Reply HELP for help. Opt-outs take effect immediately and are honored permanently unless you opt back in.

Privacy

Phone numbers and consent records are used only to deliver these team notifications. They are never sold, shared with third parties, or used for marketing. See our Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions.
